Single
La Vérité 2009 Churchill The
La Vérité project
is a very unique undertaking by Pete Johnson. Using only tobacco from
Pepin's La Estrella farm, from a single crop year, both
La Vérité and
L'Esprit de Vérité were
created, making these small batch vitolas something very special. Much
like a single vineyard wine, these cigars showcase the seed varietal and
soil where they were grown.
The 2009 crop at La Estrella consisted of Habano Criollo, Criollo 98 and Pelo de Oro. For the 2009
La Vérité and
L'Esprit de Vérité vitolas, all three seed varietals were used, but in different ratios for each of the vitolas.
La Vérité Churchill is comprised of 50% Habano Criollo, 35% Criollo 98 and 15% Pelo de Oro.
L'Esprit de Vérité Robusto is comprised of 55% Habano Criollo, 35% Criollo 98 and 10% Pelo de Oro.
Production dates for each vitola were from 7-19-10 through 12-17-10. Both vitolas have been aging in large cedar cases and will be sorted and boxed when they are ready for shipment in June, 2011.
The
La Vérité vitola is
a 7x47 Churchill and is the flagship of the project. A bit more full
bodied than it's counterpart, the
La Vérité Churchill
is the premier label.
The
L'Esprit de Vérité Robusto
is like a second label in the wine industry. Made from the same source
tobacco, but blended a little lighter to be enjoyed earlier.
Both
vitolas have been aged and are ready to smoke, but
can easily age much longer if you have the patience.
